Suddenly

While I was shopping at the grocery store, the sunglasses on my head suddenly broke. I heard a cracking noise. It was even my favorite pair. I'm sad.

スーパーで買い物してたら頭にかけてたサングラスが突然壊れました。なんかパキッと割れる音が聞こえました。お気に入りだったのに。悲しい。

She is not Skyler, Darling!

I used to watch the TV drama "Breaking Bad". In the drama, the two main characters are so.... how do I say? unrewarded. It made me sad, so I stopped watching it in season 3 or something. Yesterday, my husband said pointing to a Pantene commercial on TV, "You know? That woman is Skyler." Skyler is one of the characters on the show. WHAAAAAT? It looks like a completely different person to me.
Today, I still couldn't understand it so I searched the internet. You know what? I was right. She is not Skyler.

ブレーキングバッッドというドラマを見たことがあります。そのドラマの２人の主人公があまりに報われないので悲しくなって見るのをやめました。
昨日夫がパンテーンのコマーシャルを指差しながら「知ってた？これスカイラーだよ」と言うのです。スカイラーはそのドラマのキャラクターの一人です。
えええええ？！全然違う人に見えるんですけど！
今日はそれがあまりに納得できないのでネットで探してみました。
どうだったと思います？私が当たりです。彼女はスカイラーじゃありませーん(´∀｀*)

Want to eat marble bread

I'm baking a load of bread. Actually, my bread machine is baking bread. It's supposed to be chocolate marble bread. I don't know yet if it's going to be successful or not. Usually, if you want to make marble bread, you have to make a sheet of chocolate in addition to the white bread dough. I'm a really lazy person though, so I just added chocolate and some flour in the middle of the process.





We'll see in three hours.

Getting ready to go to Japan

We currently live in Florida but will go back to Japan next month. My five month old son doesn't have a Japanese passport yet, so we will go to Miami to get his passport next week. It takes about seven hours to get to Miami from here by car.
 It's gonna be tough. Today, my son got a picture for his passport at Walgreen's which is a pharmacy. It was fun to see my son's nervous face.

Took pictures

I have friends who are in the military. They will go to Germany this month, so we took pictures of us together in front of an airplane. I bought a military baby cloth for my son for this day. It looked good on him and I could get nice pictures, but his hair....I didn't realize how bald he was. Because we've been together all the time it's normal for me, but in the picture, he looks so bald!

Honey Boo Boo

I watched a TV show called Honey Boo Boo. My American friend talked about that show before and said it's an awful show. I understood why my friend didn't like it.
 Hahaha. That show is popular in America, right? I kind of liked it. Honey Boo Boo has subtitles in it. The subtitles are so helpful for people who are not good at English, like me. I really wouldn't understand what they're saying if there were no subtitles.

Library and babies

My five month old baby boy and I went to the library and took a reading class for the babies for the first time. All members of this class were babies under two years old. I've never seen so many babies. A librarian read several books to us great emotion...a funny voice? I don't know how to express it. They were like an actor! It was fun. I don't think my baby understood the story though.

 ５ヶ月になる赤ちゃんと一緒に図書館へ行き、赤ちゃんへの読み聞かせのクラスに参加しました。クラスのメンバーは皆２歳以下の赤ちゃんです。あんなに多く の赤ちゃんをみたのは初めてです。図書館員は感情を込めていくつかの本を読んでくれました。俳優のようです。おもしろかった。私の赤ちゃんが本の内容を分 かったとは思えないけど。

My five month old baby boy and I went to library and took the book reading class for the baby for the first time. All member of this class were under two years old babies. We're going to go back to Japan in June. I'm thinking of throwing a small party with my friends. Also I'm thinking of giving them Japanese style gifts. My friends are American. What kind of gift would you like to get from a Japanese friend? They have many Japanese friends, so they already have chopsticks, creepy Japanese dolls and kanji wall art.

DVD, Cake and Me

I lent a DVD to my friend a while ago. It's a Japanese movie. She brought back the DVD with some yummy homemade cakes. She didn't know that I'm on a dairy free diet. It was shame that I couldn't eat her cake. Well...my husband will eat it at least.

ずっと前に友達にDVDを貸しました。日本の映画です。彼女はDVDと一緒に手作りのケーキを持ってきてくれました。私が乳製品除去中なのを知らずに。。。ケーキを食べれなくて残念です。まぁ、旦那が食べるんでしょうが。

I cleared the 500'th level in Candy Crush finally. I'd been stuck there for over a month. horaaayヽ(´∀｀｡)ﾉﾟ

Yummy chocolate muffin and me

I'm on a dairy free diet. A lot of sweet things like chocolate or ice cream have milk or butter in their ingredients. I can't eat that. Last night, my neighbor brought us homemade chocolate muffins. I didn't eat any, but the smell of the muffins drove me crazy. Later, In the bathroom, I realized I got chocolate on my cheek. Nobody told me about it. I was miserable.

昨夜近所の人がマフィンを焼いて持ってきてくれました。食べなかったけど、犬のように匂いを嗅いで楽しみました。そのあとトイレでほっぺにチョコが付いてるのに気づきました。惨めでした。誰もおしえてくれなかった。。。

I know that my pronunciation skills are not good, so I hesitate to speak loudly in public.
One day I saw a woman drop her ID and not realize it. I ran into her and said "Excuse me, ma'am!". In my head, I wonder if she misunderstood me as having said "Mom".

発音がうまくありません。分かっているので公衆で大声で話すのをためらってしまいます。前にIDカードを女の人が落としてそれに気づいてなかったので「すいません！」と追いかけたのですが、頭に中ではmomって言ってるって思われたらどうしようって思ってました。。。

I'm on a dairy free diet because my baby boy might be allergic to milk. My doctor recommended that I cut beef from my diet as well. But I miss it so. I get cravings sometimes... so badly. sigh...

息子がミルクアレルギーかもしれないので乳製品を食べないようにしています。先生は牛肉も食べない方がいいと言ってます。

Boy's Festival

Happy Cinco de Mayo!
In Japan, May 5th is Boys' Festival. I am not currently in Japan, so I thought I wouldn't need to celebrate this day. Besides, I've never celebrated May 5th, but my parents said it's kinda important to celebrate a boy's first "May 5th".  I have a 5 month old baby boy, so I decided to prepare some Japanese-style food and helmet (kabuto) for him. In America, especially in the small town where I live, it's so hard to get quality(edible!) raw fish or Japanese stuff like "dashi" or "shiitake". I just bought some smoked salmon and vinegar for sushi, and I also made a helmet with fabric. It was not perfect, but the helmet looked very good on him and we enjoyed the homemade "temakizushi" very much:)

ハッピーシンコデマヨ！
日本では５月５日は端午の節句です。私は今日本に住んでいないので祝う必要はないと思ったのですが、というか今ま で祝ったこともなかったし。でも両親が初めての端午の節句は祝った方がいいというので、５ヶ月の男の子もいることだし、日本的な料理と兜を用意することに しました。
アメリカでは、特に私がすんでいるような田舎では、食べれる生魚や日本の野菜を見つけるのはすごく難しいです。なのでスモークサーモンと寿司用のお酢だけを買って布で兜を作りました。完璧ではありませんが兜は似合っていたし手作りの手巻き寿司はとっても美味しかったです。
